Rescuing Food.
Restoring Hope.
Feeding Communities.

Our Mission

Harvest for Hope’s mission is to cultivate supportive communities by addressing food insecurity, promoting equitable access to resources, and fostering connections that empower individuals and families toward long-term well-being.

Our Vision

At Harvest for Hope, we aim to grow beyond Surrey and beyond food rescue and distribution.

Our long-term vision is to provide not only food but also a pathway to self-reliance and empowerment for those in need.

Building Stronger Connections

By fostering relationships with food recipients, we can better understand their needs and find other support.

Connecting to Resources

Through these relationships, we help clients access and enroll in additional resources, programs, and services such as employment opportunities, housing support, work experience programs, and mental health services.

Empowering Self-Reliance

We want to support our clients in transitioning from relying on food assistance to achieving independence.

Our ultimate goal is to provide hope and holistic support, enabling people to improve their circumstances and build a brighter future.

Current Impact

In Canada, an astonishing 50% of all food produced goes to waste, while 4 million Canadians—including 1.2 million children—struggle with food insecurity.

Through Harvest for Hope’s food recovery and distribution program, we currently rescue 1,400 pounds of surplus food (around 600 meals) from Save-On-Foods and other local partners every week. This food is redistributed to individuals and families in need across Surrey, ensuring that no meal goes to waste and every bite brings hope.

Land acknowledgement

We acknowledge that we live and work on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples, including the Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, Kwantlen, Katzie, Qayqayt, and other First Nations who have stewarded these lands for generations. We honour their enduring connection to these territories, including Surrey, Burnaby, Coquitlam, and the broader Vancouver Lower Mainland. We are committed to fostering respect, gratitude, and reconciliation in all that we do.
